The histories of the Black church in our city before 1880 is pivotal to having an informed perspective of the Histories of Christianity in our City.

The history of the relationship between Black & White churches in our city before 1880 is pivotal to having an informed perspective of the Histories of Christianity in our City. This is a special opportunity to listen and learn from Teri Gentry, a woman whose life and work embodies the importance of legacy and history.

Terri Gentry's passion for the joy of all of us has been a driving force in various initiatives throughout Colorado. Terri has and continues to consistently show a selfless spirit that inspires others. Her ability to bring people together for a common cause speaks volumes about her leadership qualities and the respect she commands in our community.

SPEAKERS

Terri Gentry

Terri Gentry is a 3rd generation native of Denver. She is married to Dwight Gentry, with 4 children and 9 grandchildren. She attended Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, in Interior Design. She is a business owner of A Terrific Design, LLC.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree in African/African American Studies from Metro State College (University) of Denver, and a Master’s Degree in Humanities, focus in Public History and Museum Studies, from the University of Colorado Denver.  She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Aurora, CO chapter. 

 Terri recently began working at History Colorado, as Engagement Manager for Black Communities.

Terri is a Volunteer Docent and on the board of directors at the Black American West Museum & Heritage Center.  She conducts museum tours, the Five Points Walking Tour, and facilitates presentations about Black Americans in the West, and other topics to schools, community and government agencies, and businesses throughout the Denver Metro area, and Front Range communities.

MiDian Holmes

MiDian Holmes grew up in Denver, Colorado, and has a rich history in our city. She is the product of a multi-generational presence of Black family and Black community. MiDian’s faith story was formative at Berean Bible Church in Denver. MiDian is a mother, mentor, founder of the Epitome of Black Excellence & Partnership, and the owner of 8PM Consulting for Humanity.
